How we use artificial intelligence in our images
Since we founded Artknit Studios in 2018, the brand has been built on one simple idea:
say how things actually are. Where the wool comes from, who makes the garment, what it really costs to produce. Artificial intelligence now plays a part in how some of our images are created, and we think you should know how we use it and how we flag it.
The principle that doesn't change
The garment is always real. The colour, the fibre, the stitch, the proportions and the fit you see are the garment you receive. We do not generate products that don't exist, and we do not use AI to make a garment look like something it isn't.
How we use artificial intelligence
In some images — social posts, website banners, campaign material — we may use generative AI tools to:
- create the figure wearing the garment, instead of a shoot with a model;
- create or extend the setting and the background;
- adapt an existing image to different formats, or improve its resolution.
What we never do
- We never generate the product or its details with AI: the garment shown is the real garment.
- We never alter bodies to represent unrealistic proportions.
- We never create figures resembling real, existing or recognisable people.
- We never use AI to produce reviews, testimonials or customer opinions.
- We never use AI to generate traceability data, material specifications or supply chain information: those come from our suppliers and we verify each one.
How we flag it
Every image in which the figure or the setting is AI-generated carries the wording "AI-generated image":
- on the image itself, in banners and advertising campaigns;
- at the beginning of the caption, in social posts, together with the platform's own "made with AI" label;
We keep internal documentation of how each image was produced.
Why we do it
Because the European Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation EU 2024/1689, Article 50) requires artificially generated or manipulated content to be clearly disclosed as of 2 August 2026. And because, as a Benefit Company and a certified B Corp, we believe transparency about how we communicate matters as much as transparency about how we produce.
